Floor Strippers
Traditionally the mentality in popular culture is “more is better”. You see it everyday through all types of influences.
In the case of floor stripping this is definitely not the truth. Floor strippers need water for them to work properly, and it is important to keep them wet at all times. A good rule of thumb is to have an extra bucket of water around to rewet the stripper in order to create the emulsification that is needed to remove old floor finish. Also remember that dwell time is the true key for complete stripping.
You should never use a floor stripper straight as it will not work effectively without water. The solvents in the stripper will evaporate out leaving the floor finish on the floor. A dilution of 4:1 or 32 oz per gallon is a starting point if not sure what to dilute at.
Always read the label on the product you are using for product specific information. And keep it wet. A good heavy duty floor stripper is Spartan’s Emulsifier Plus it is designed to remove multiple coats of finish in one application.
The proper dilution is the key here.
